Jefferson Area Community Food Pantry
St. Giles’ is the distribution site for the Jefferson Area Community Food Pantry formed in August of 2015. Two members of St. Giles were closely involved in the start up – Linda Pierpont who served as the St. Giles’ representative and secretary on the JACFP Board and David Greer who was responsible for drawing up the paperwork which defines our relationship with the JACFP. Debbie King currently serves on the JACFP Board. John Atwood is the vestry liaison to the board.
The Food Pantry is truly a community effort, with parishioners from St. Giles’ and other parishes, Jefferson and Somerville town residents, the Whitefield Lion’s Club, local Masonic organizations, and many others all working together to meet the need for food assistance in our area. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Allison Brooks, chairperson, at 315-1134.
The JACFP is open twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 pm. The Food Pantry has more than doubled the number of families it serves over the past two months, and has stepped up its response to increased need created by the pandemic response. If you would like to make a contribution, please write a check payable to JACFP or contact Allison Brooks for more ways to contribute.
