Blessing Bags

A new outreach opportunity!  Debbie King suggested and the vestry agreed to a new outreach project at St. Giles’ — Blessing Bags.  These are plastic bags filled with items that people in need would find very helpful, such as toiletries, small items of non-perishable food like granola bars, Band-Aids, water, wash cloths, new socks and underwear, a bag of quarters, a prepaid phone card, a note of encouragement.  A full list of suggested items is in the parish hall.  We can have one or two Blessing Bags in our cars for the times when we see a homeless person and want to help.  We could give a number of Blessing Bags to an organization, such as a women’s shelter.  For now, we want to collect items to include in the Blessing Bags.  Beginning in February, we suggest that instead of (or in addition to) bringing donations for the food pantry, parishioners bring donations suitable for Blessing Bags.  We will collect these donations for a number of weeks and then assemble the Blessing Bags.  If you have further questions, please ask Debbie, or you can Google “Blessing Bags’ and find out more.  Thank you!
