We are fast approaching the season of Lent. It begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6th, and we will gather at church at 2 p.m. for the Ash Wednesday liturgy with Holy Communion on this very important day in the church year. I encourage you to attend this service at St. Giles, but if you can’t because of work and other responsibilities, several other area churches hold evening services on Ash Wednesday. For example, in past years both St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Newcastle and Water of Life Lutheran Church in Newcastle have held evening Ash Wednesday services. Lent can be a season of deep spiritual growth, a time set aside in a special way for God. Consider making a commitment this year to a holy Lent.
